June 6, 2011

This morning I got up, showered, shaved, and dressed for work.

Sixty Seven years ago today your fathers and grandfathers got up and, along with 168,000 others, crossed the English Channel as part of  the invasion of Europe.

General Dwight David Eisenhower told them they were “about to embark upon a great crusade“.

To Ike it may have been a crusade but to me it was average Americans doing what they have always done.  The hard work of defending our country.

Those brave fighting men of Normandy and World War II are leaving us every day.  It won’t be long until they’re all gone but our memories of them should never die.

Take a moment today to reflect on the sacrifices they made for us and say thank you.
